Being a bit of a Bali babe on my third trip in one year, I will say the Gili Islands are a must see if you are in the area. You can’t leave Indonesia until you have seen their beauty. I posted previously about my stay on Gili Trawagan, Indonesia however Gili Air has a much more relaxed feel and a lot less jean shorts and back packs. My go to resort on Gili Air has to be Sunrise Resort.
This stunning resort is located right on the beach with Gili’s renowned crystal waters and if that isn’t enough they have a vast pool area with their very own waterfall – what more could you want on your tropical vacation. I love the story behind this resort, it started in 1990 with the phrase “Don’t Dream it…Do it”. This resonates with me as it is a mantra I live by as a travel blogger. The owner is from Scotland and started the resort with big dreams, dreams that have come true in a spectacular form.
The owners love and passion for the resort reflects greatly in the amazing customer service, I have never felt so looked after, it was a much more intimate experience than with the larger chain resorts.
The rooms at this escape remind me of a tropical paradise, we stayed in a two-storey bungalow complete with our own hammock and roof top deck. Having two stories gave us so much space and added a different vibe to the room, it wasn’t your usual hotel room. The beds are dreamy with plenty of cushions and pretty decor surrounding.
Like I always say, it’s all about the pool and this resort has a pool that’s by the beach. The pool area is luscious with plants and flowers giving a real tropical feel and also more privacy when sharing with other guests.
Gili Sunrise has the most delicious dining options and we found each night we were joined by people from other resorts. We opted for the buffet and BBQ and the meat was amazing unlike other places I have tried in Indonesia. There is also a vast salad choice with yummy potato salad.
That concludes my post about the amazing Sunrise Resort on Gili Air, I can safely say that I was not ready to leave and I will always remember my amazing time spent at this resort. If you are thinking about visiting Bali you must go pay Sunrise Resort a visit, it is truly a unique experience in such a beautiful location.
